Even though I am eight months late (as of the time of writing this post) regarding having recently found out about Don Daynard’s death, and writing this very post in response to Don Daynard’s death; I am very sad over the passing of Don Daynard.
Don Daynard had worked with Wally Crowder at CFRB-AM.
In the late 1960’s, Don Daynard had moved across the hall to CFRB’s FM stepchild that Standard Broadcasting had put on the air in 1938 as APEX Station VE9AK, CKFM-FM. That was, of course; before dissolute employees of Standard Radio Inc. had changed the format of CKFM-FM from its very pleasant mainstream Adult Contemporary format to the awful Hot Adult Contemporary format in September, 1991.
In 1987, Don Daynard had moved to the FM Radio Station in the Toronto market owned and operated by Rogers Broadcasting Ltd., CHFI-AM. CFTR-AM was actually the AM stepchild of CHFI-FM, as CHFI-AM (later CFTR-AM) was put on the air a few years after CHFI-AM; due to Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commissions (CRTC) rules at the time requiring that all owners of FM Radio Stations licensed throughout Canada to own and operate at least one AM/Mediumwave Station. A year later, in 1988; one time CKLW-AM Disc Jockey Erin Davis would be hired in as Don Daynard’s On-Air Partner during the morning shift on CHFI-AM.

Some time ago, I wrote an earlier post about Don Daynard and Wally Crowder being souls who richly belong in Heaven: Additional People That Have Already, Or Are Likely To Wind Up In Heaven
