Vacation homes nor motorboats that are Cabin Cruisers and Yachts are of any interest to Arthur and his parents.
Only RVs are of any interest to Arthur and his parents. Such as the Chevrolet C-70 Medium-Duty truck that’s been modified by Cabriolet conversions of Constantine, Michigan into a Fifth-Wheel hauler and the Newmar Fifth-Wheel trailer that they own.
The mainstream children’s families (such as Francine, Buster, Prunella; and Fern, to name a few) each buy, rent, or build their own vacation homes once their parents have bought the property.
For instance, Francine’s parents purchase property-8 acres located a considerable distance north of where the boarding school they send their daughters is located, and they build a vacation home that’s 2-stories, is of the Cabin architectural style, is 3,240 square feet, has 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a deck on both the 1st and 2nd stories; and an attached 2-car garage.
Francine’s parents also build a 944 square foot 2-story detached 8-bay garage with a covered porch, a bathroom, a recreational room, a high bay and some low bays; and a vaulted closet in the 2nd story on the property they’ve purchased.
Once construction of Francine’s parents’ vacation home and the detached garage is complete, Francine and her sister Catherine live by themselves in the vacation home year round and commute to the Catholic boarding school from the vacation home. Alongside Francine’s parents spending time there occasionally and many of Francine’s relatives coming to stay there and staying overnight in any one of the additional bedrooms in that house.
Binky’s parents also purchase property in a rural area-6 acres and build a 5-bedroom, 2-bathroom 2,190 square foot A-Frame home.
Binky’s parents also build a 770 square feet 2-story detached 3-car garage with an apartment in the 2nd story. The apartment consists of 1 bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchenette; and a bonus room.
Fern’s parents purchase a 1,164 cabin style home with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a wraparound deck on an inland lake with a front porch and a 2-car detached garage.
Buster’s mother rents by the way of a land contract a 1,187 square feet cabin style home that’s 2 stories and has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom that’s located directly on the water on the same inland lake where Fern’s parents had purchased their vacation home.
Prunella’s mother purchases an 852 square foot single story cabin style home with a front porch, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms; and a 2-car detached garage.
George Nordgren’s parents purchase a motorboat- a brand new 1988 or 1989 50 foot Bertram Flying Bridge Convertible yacht with a total of 4 marinized versions of the Detroit Diesel Series 92 powering the vessel, and other engines that were available were the Detroit Diesel Series 71 (the standard engine), Detroit Diesel Series 149; and Caterpillar and Cummins engines.
George Nordgren’s parents buy this motorboat- the 50 foot Bertram Flying Bridge Convertible yacht as an investment, and they hope that they’ll ever be able to receive a return on their investment.
The parents of the other family that D.W and Katherine are a part of, towards the end of the movie in 1995; purchase a plot of land in Taylor County, Florida (located near the Florida panhandle) consisting of 10 acres using the mother’s Real Estate and investment skills to build a 5,955 square foot 2-story Spanish style home with a pitched roof, 5 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, a carport, a 2-car detached garage with a workshop built in, a guest suite with it’s own bathroom and it’s own covered porch on the main floor; a music room, a recreation room on the 2nd floor; and a utility/hobby room.
It comes with affliction that Francine’s parents purchase a vehicle that they’re not the type of people to own, and are likely to abuse it: a 1987 Ford F-350 Dual Rear Wheel Crew Cab with 4-wheel-drive, the 351 Windsor V8, the C6 automatic transmission, the XLT trim level, equipment group 507A, a rear limited-slip differential, 4:10 rear axle ratio, the combination two-tone paint job-which consists of the center-band two-tone paint job and the roof two-tone paint job; and the exterior colors Alpine Green Metallic/Colonial White with the Chestnut interior.
It also comes with affliction that Francine’s parents purchase another vehicle that they’re not the type of people to own-a Suburban that’s a 3-quarter-ton; albeit a more common one with the 350 V8 and 4-wheel-drive, the Scottsdale trim level, the TH-400 automatic transmission, 4:10 rear axle ratio, rear locking differential, rear air conditioning & heat, the lower-band two-tone paint job; and the exterior colors Indian Bronze/White Frost with the Saddle Tan interior.
Francine’s parents use the Suburban in applications where it’s not practical to use the pickup truck-to haul a bunch of people or haul a combination of people and cargo from their house in the Elmwood City area to their vacation home, in addition to maybe pulling a trailer in tandem with hauling people and/or cargo.
Francine’s parents hand down Catherine their K-Car, a 1982 Plymouth Reliant to Catherine as her first car that she and Francine drive together from the vacation home to the boarding school every weekday in, and Francine’s parents sell the North American Escort themselves when they buy both the Suburban and the Ford F-350.
Francine’s parents also buy a brand-new Full-Size Ford Bronco with the 300 inline-6 just to keep on the property that their vacation home is on. This vehicle has the Ford C-6 automatic transmission, 3:55 rear axle ratio, electronically-controlled push-button transfer case, the Custom (base) trim level, equipment group 681A, snow plow prep package (includes heavier front springs), skid plates, vinyl flooring in lieu of carpet, vinyl/cloth seating, front bucket seats, Victoria two-tone paint package (includes accent color on hood, upper fender, around door window; and on the lower bodyside); and the exterior colors Light Canyon Red/Black with the Canyon Red interior.
Francine’s family, nor the families of all of these other mainstream children are the right type of people to own a vehicle such as vehicles on the GM B-platform and the Ford Fox platform, a Full-Size pickup truck, a Suburban, a K-Blazer, a Full-Size Bronco, a Dodge Ramcharger/Plymouth TrailDuster; and a Full-Size van. These people are also not the right type of people to own a Jeep, a Land Rover; or a Toyota Land Cruiser.
Only Arthur and his parents are the right type of people to own these kinds of vehicles. And only Athur and his parents are the tight type of people to own a Jeep, a Land Rover; or a Toyota Land Cruiser.
