    September 30th, 2016

Like the Front-Engine TC/2000 that is the subject of this earlier blog post:

The wheels on this Front-Engine Safe-T-Liner are also located in near proximity of each other nearly in the center of the body, with a body length that is much longer than the actual wheelbase of this bus.

As I have said before in other posts, I am not fond of the smaller Type A cutaway School Buses and Type B School Buses on the GM/Workhorse P-Chassis. I am only fond of the larger Type C conventional School Buses and the Type D Transit-style School Buses.

One of the last School Bus bodies that Carpenter had built before they had closed their doors in 2000.

This particular bus was used strictly for training newly-hired drivers and never had it ever been used to transport students.

  • Arnold Palmer, Latrobe legend who reshaped golf, dies at 87

    September 25th, 2016

I am very saddened by the death of Arnold Palmer.

I never really cared about the game of Golf, and the one and only aspect of Golf that I care about is whichever network is televising the PGA Tour event, and the effort required for the production team to set up the cameras and other equipment around the Golf course.

For instance, I favor CBS Sports’s telecasts of the PGA Tour, when Neal Pilson was the President of CBS Sports; and when people like Brent Musberger, Jim Nantz, Pat Summerall, Ken Venturi, Ben Wright; and Tom Weiskopf had all either hosted or commentated on many of the PGA Tour events that CBS ever had the rights to.

I was going to have Arnold Palmer, but I still plan on giving Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Stuart Appleby; and Phil Mickelson roles in the Arthur movie for adults where these golfers are transported on a School Bus to the PGA Tour event that is to take place at a Country Club in Elmwood City, and Arthur’s mother Jane Read and her boss-the Director of Transportation of Elmwood City Public Schools each drive the buses (ones that the school district normally uses for training newly hired drivers and never uses them to transport students) that they transport these golfers on to the Country Club.

While the PGA Tour event is going on, Arthur’s mother and her boss spend the whole entire time in the clubhouse talking about their work as they wait to eventually transport these golfers back to the hotel in the area that they’re staying in.

  • Remembering Legendary Channel 7 Anchor John Kelly

    September 25th, 2016

I am very saddened by the death of former WJBK-TV and WXYZ-TV news anchor and former talk show host John Kelly.

John Kelly, along with his wife Marilyn Turner; are people who I wantd to be cased in the Arthur movie for adults playing their own selves who are a news anchor, a weather girl in the case of Marilyn; and hosts of one of many NPVT-TV’s locally produced talk shows. Actually, I was going to have Kelly, Turner, Oprah Winfrey; and retired CFCF-TV personality Don McGowan each play the 4 hosts of a local talk show at NPVT-TV.

Kelly & Company, as ABC had mandated that each of it’s owned and operated stations have their own in-house, locally produced talk show; was WXYZ-TV’s own iteration of A.M Chicago/Oprah Winfrey’s nationally syndicated talk show, A.M New York/Regis, Kathie Lee, Kelly Ripa, and Michael; A.M San Francisco (hosted by another husband and wife team who were also former news anchors and reporters-Fred LaCosse and Terry Lowry); and A.M Los Angeles.

I was a young broadcast student at Central Michigan University in the early ’70’s when Channel 7 pulled off one of the greatest programming coups in local television history.

  • Ford’s Big Trucks Hauling in Big Sales: New 2016 F-650 and F-750 Trucks Have Best Year-to-Date Since 1997 | Ford Media Center

    September 24th, 2016

Ford’s Medium & Heavy-Duty trucks are my favorite make of Medium & Heavy-Duty trucks.

Even when Ford was actively involved in this business, their Medium & Heavy-Duty trucks were more trustworthy than GM’s Medium & Heavy-Duty trucks. GM had sold their Class 8 truck division to Volvo in 1988, and had become the basis for Volvo Trucks’ North American business arm; and GM had exited the Medium-Duty truck market when they had discontinued their Class 4-7 GMT560 Kodiak & Top Kick trucks in 2009.

I wish that Ford had held onto their Medium & Heavy-Duty truck division rather than selling it to Daimler/Freightliner to become Sterling in 1996, and as a result of this sale to Daimler/Freightliner; would discontinue the Ford B-Series chassis & cowl and exit the Type C conventional School Bus market at the end of 1998. Freightliner would eventually develop their own FS-65 chassis & cowl and even later, the C2 chassis & cowl that serves as the one and only chassis that Thomas’s C2 conventional body that is fastened together by adhesive; is available on.

The reality is once Ford had sold their Medium & Heavy-Duty truck division to Daimler/Freightliner; they had held onto the F-Series Medium-Duty. And it seems like in the present day, the one and only Medium-Duty trucks that Ford builds these days; the F-Series Medium-Duty is doing as well as they heyday of Ford’s Medium & Heavy-Duty truck division with not only earlier generations of the F-Series Medium-Duty, but also the C-Series, L-Series, H-Series, W-Series, CLT-Series; and the Iveco-designed Ford Cargo.

Ford, America’s truck leader, has outfitted hard-working fleets with more F-650 and F-750 trucks in the first eight months of 2016 than all year in 2015.
