A photo of HRH Diana, Princess of Wales and Charles, Prince of Wales riding in his mother and her mother-in-law’s Land Rover Series I that had been custom-built for the British Monarchy as Elizabeth II’s Review Vehicle some time during the years 1952-1954 during their tour of Australia in 1983.
The vehicle had been transported on the Royal Aircraft that Charles and Diana had used to transport themselves from the United Kingdom to Australia.
Maybe Charles, at this moment; was perhaps pondering over how many times his mother Elizabeth II and his father HRH Prince Phillip had used this vehicle prior to this moment in 1983.
Maybe Diana, at this moment; was pondering over Solihull, England being the ancestral home of both Rover and Land Rover just as Toledo, Ohio is the ancestral home of Jeep; the fine tradition that both Jeeps and Land Rovers have of mixing and matching parts from other vehicles, the amount of parts from the Rover P3 and P4 saloon cars that the Land Rover Series I, II, III and 90/110 Series/Defender had always utilized; and the parts from the Rover P5B, P6; and SD1 that the Range Rover has always utilized; and last, both Jeeps and Land Rovers having the availability of a Power Take-Off (PTO) unit and being used as alternative to a piece of Farm or Construction Equipment; or even as an alternative to a Standby Generator.
Long live the British Monarchy, God save the Queen or King; may Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, India, and Pakistan forevermore remain with the Commonwealth; and may these nations that are members of the Commonwealth never ever become independent republics.
