If you’ve been following this Blog for a while, you know that the Broadcasting aspect of Sports in the one and only aspect of Sports that I care about.
I am saddened by the death of the Phoenix Suns (the Phoenix, Arizona-based NBA Team) Play-By-Play Man Al McCoy; who had started with the Phoenix-based NBA Team in September, 1972; and had retired from the Phoenix-based NBA Team in 2023.
Al McCoy had began his Radio career in 1951 while still a freshman at Drake University in Iowa.
Al McCoy would move to Arizona in 1956 to call games for the Triple-A Phoenix Giants Minor League Baseball Team; and would stay in Arizona right up until his retirement from the Phoenix-based NBA Team in 2023; and ultimately, his passing and his transition into Heaven and other celestial realms in September, 2024.

The further decline of western civilization. Most journalism grads now go into public relations, and the electorate gets dumb and dumber.
Thankfully, KCBS News74 (740 AM, 106.9FM) remains all news, and like NY, traffic and weather every ten minutes on the eights.

An Op-Ed Article By The Publisher Of The Broadcasting Trade Magazine “Radio, Incorporated”, By The Name Of Deborah Parenti; Regarding The Differences Between The CBS Television Programs “WKRP In Cincinnati” And It’s Sequel “The New WKRP In Cincinnati” (Both Of Which Were Based On WQXI-AM In Atlanta), And The Axiomatical Broadcasting Industry.
For a time, WQXI-AM; the inspiration for the Television Shows “WKRP In Cincinnati” And It’s Sequel “The New WKRP In Cincinnati”, were owned by Esquire, Incorporated (the namesake and publisher of the Magazine “Esquire”), and more recently; WQXI-AM and its FM offspring WSTR-FM (nee WQXI-FM) were both owned and operated by Jefferson-Pilot, and subsequently; by Lincoln Financial, after Jefferson-Pilot was absorbed into Lincoln Financial, but before Lincoln Financial decided to exit the Broadcasting Industry, and sell all of their Radio and Television Stations beginning in 2006, and ending in 2014; with WQXI-AM, and WSTR-FM (nee WQXI-FM) being the very last broadcasting properties to be owned and operated by Lincoln Financial.
