This FM station adopted a hybrid Easy Listening-Adult Contemporary format following the FCC’s rule in the late 1960s, which prohibited FM stations from simulcasting the programming of their AM counterparts, thereby allowing listeners to experience AM content in the superior sound quality of FM radio. In 1970, the Read Family’s Broadcasting Company altered the FM station’s call letters to create the illusion of its independence from the AM, Shortwave, and Television Stations, despite the fact that it is co-owned and operated alongside them and remains affiliated with either CBS or NBC Radio. The FM Station retains its original ownership, management, format, and Radio Network affiliation, but has undergone a change in call letters. As previously mentioned in this post, the FM Station would use the identical call letters as its AM counterpart a year later, with the addition of the “-FM” suffix.

The television station, owned by cousins of the Read family, is a long-established affiliate of CBS or NBC, a status attributed to its co-owned AM and FM radio stations, which have also been longstanding affiliates of CBS or NBC.

Since the late 1940s, the FM and television stations owned by some relatives of the Read family have broadcast their signals from the same transmitter site and tower.
Since the late 1950s, FM and television stations controlled by certain cousins of the Read family have broadcasted with an Effective Radiated Power of 1 megawatt. The punishment inflicted to these upperclassmen who had left the campus and walked to the nearby Adult Entertainment Club is that they learn the trade of Automotive Body and Paint Work, and are put to work repainting inside the School’s Vehicle Maintenance Garage, a retired School Bus that the school had just recently acquired secondhand from a Public School District in the immediate area: a 1984 Carpenter Conventional-style School Bus on the General Motors (GMC) Chassis & Cowl.

Some years earlier, the School had purchased secondhand from a local Public School District a 1976 Superior Pacemaker on the Dodge Step Van Stripped Chassis; a 1977 Blue Bird Micro Bird on the Ford Econoline Cutaway Chassis, a 1979 Wayne Busette on the General Motors (Chevrolet) Full-Size Van Cutaway Chassis, a 1980 Thomas Minotour on the Ford Econoline Cutaway Chassis (the first year Thomas put the Minotour into mass production, and one of the first hundred mass produced Minotours) specifically for Students to practice with when learning the trade of Automotive Body and Paint Work; including the secondhand 1984 Carpenter Conventional-style School Bus that some of the students are tasked with repainting.

The sole option is the 22″ Machined Aluminum Wheels with Black Noise Pockets. The packages include the All-Weather Mat Package, 2nd-Row Seating Group (featuring a 2nd Row 40/20/40 Power-Folding Split Bench Seat with Manual Recline), Rear-Seat Entertainment Group, and the Heavy-Duty Trailer-Tow Package. The vehicle is finished in an Upper-Band Two-Tone Paint Scheme comprising Black and Velvet Red Pearl Coat, with an interior color designated as Palermo.

In 2026, David and Jane Read replace Jane’s 2020 DT Dodge/Ram 1500 with a DT Ram 1500 “Ramcharger” Plug-In Hybrid Model, which features the ‘Pentastar’ 3.6-liter V6 Gasoline Engine solely for recharging the vehicle’s Propulsion Batteries, without actually contributing to the vehicle’s propulsion. The vehicle is a Crew Cab with a 6.5-foot bed, Four-Wheel Drive, and is equipped with the top-tier ‘Tungsten’ Trim Level.

Several years later, David and Jane Read substitute their WS Jeep Grand Wagoneer with a GMC Yukon XL EV Denali.

In approximately 2028-2029, David and Jane Read will replace Jane’s DT Ram 1500 “Ramcharger” Plug-In Hybrid Model with the fully Battery Electric variant of the DT Ram 1500, designated by Stellantis as the Ram “REV” model; this version will also feature a Crew Cab, a 6.5-foot Bed, Four-Wheel Drive, and will be equipped in the premium ‘Tungsten’ Trim Level.
