An article in National Communications Magazine about the banter that is all too common with communication between Ham Radio Operators.
I am not in any way surprised by the banter that is all too common with communication between Ham Radio Operators, because I know very well that it comes with the territory (as the saying goes) of being a Ham Radio Operator.
What I am surprised at, is how National Communications Magazine wrote this particular article in an effort to explain to people who either barely know what Amateur/Ham Radio is, or don’t know what Amateur/Ham Radio is at all; that the banter in communication between two or more Amateur/Ham Radio Operators, comes with the territory.
I am passionate about Automobiles (including the Automotive Industry), Agricultural Machinery, School Buses, Class 6-8 Trucks, Recreational Vehicles (RVs), Broadcasting, Amateur/Ham Radio, Electric Fans, HVAC Systems, the Stock Market, and Writing as a profession.
I am upset over AM/Mediumwave Radio potentially disappearing in Japan over the course of the next several months.
The history of the Nippon Hoso Kyokai (NHK) (in the English language: Japan Broadcasting Corporation), and its historically important AM/Mediumwave Radio Stations; such as JOAK-AM and JOIB-AM, to name a couple, are very important to me emotionally.
In this Book that I wrote under my Pen Name “Wilbur Hay” that you may purchase a copy of from Barnes & Noble, titled “The Day-To-Day Lives Of A Well-Off Couple And Their Autistic Son”, besides the main characters in this narrative, the well-off couple and their Autistic son being passionate about Commercial Broadcast Radio and Television, and Amateur/Ham Radio; and them also being friends with a local firm that owns historically important AM/Mediumwave, FM, and Shortwave Radio Stations; and a historically important Television Station in their area, the couple and their Autistic son also own Vacation Homes in one of their ancestral lands, Great Britain; another one of their ancestral lands, Australia (specifically, Tasmania); and Japan (albeit Japan not being one of their ancestral lands), they are friends with the BBC, NHK, and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC, not to be confused with the American Broadcasting Company; also abbreviated as ABC); and several AM/Mediumwave and Shortwave Radio Stations in Great Britain, Australia, and in Japan are very important to them emotionally.

Shari Lewis’s daughter Mallory Tarcher-Lewis, Mallory’s ex-husband Brad Hood, an Off-Road Automobile Racer; both of whom are Skydivers; should take note of the fellow Skydivers who have illicitly utilized frequencies on the Radio Spectrum allocated for Amateur/Ham use for inter-communication while in the Air, and once they’ve landed on the ground.
Shari Lewis, and my paternal grandmother were both kindred spirits. Besides them both having high moral standards, they were both crafty people. They were both into Painting and Doll-making. However, their shared interest in Painting and Doll-making is where aforementioned similarities end. My paternal grandmother was also into Pottery and Ceramic-making, while Shari Lewis was into Sewing and Knitting.
Shari Lewis would be open to listening to an AM/FM/SW Radio Receiver, DXing Shortwave Radio Stations, and distant AM/Mediumwave Radio Stations from all corners of the world. My paternal grandmother was also into Shortwave listening, as she, at first had a Realistic AM/FM/SW Receiver; and then a Sony ICF-SW1000S. Information on the Sony ICF-SW1000S, and ICF-SW1000T AM/FM/LW/SW/Single Side Band Receivers can be found in the following link: https://www.dxing.com/rx/icfsw100.htm
I, myself am into the whole nine yards as far as my passion for Radio is concerned: Shortwave listening, AM/Mediumwave listening, Longwave listening, DXing, Broadcasting History; and the Broadcast Radio and Television Industry, including the the past, present, and future of the Broadcast Radio and Television Industry.
Shannon and Ray could have introduced us to Shari Lewis, her husband Jeremy Tarcher, and her sister and brother-in-law Judith and Steve Krantz. They knew Shari, Judith, and their family by the way of a Book Store on Bloor Street in the Toronto city proper in Ontario, Canada; and Judith and Steve owned a Book Store a couple doors down on Bloor Street from Shannon & Ray’s friends.
If Shannon, Ray, Shari Lewis, Judith Krantz, and their husbands had en masse come to visit us and my paternal grandmother at our house; Shari Lewis could have joined my paternal grandmother and I on listening to Shortwave Radio Stations at any time of day (even during the night), and DXing distant Longwave and AM/Mediumwave Radio Stations during the nighttime hours.
I’m sure Shari Lewis would enjoy listening to Shortwave Radio Stations based everywhere the entire world over, and DXing distant Longwavce and AM/Mediumwave Radio Stations as much as my paternal grandmother did; and I always have, and always will.
The Book penned by Kevin Jakubowski titled “8-Bit Christmas”, and the 2021 Film Adaptation starring Neil Patrick Harris and Steve Zahn are both false representations of the 1980’s.
The Film Adaptation of the Book titled “8-Bit Christmas” is also a modern, profane take on the 1980’s; not unlike many other movies produced during the 21st Century (to date).
Then, and now; I, and fictitious people in my own Books would not only be aversive towards Video Game aficionados such as modern NASCAR Drivers Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, Elliott Sadler, Matt Kenseth and his son Ross, and Brian Vickers; modern Formula 1 Drivers Nick Heidfeld and Jenson Button, to name a few; in addition to many other Xennial, Generation Y, and Generation Z people over Video Games. Including Xennial, Generation Y, and Generation Z people who are a part of these so-called “Organized Video Game Leagues”.
I, and fictitious people in my own Books would push all of these aforementioned people to be into Amateur/Ham Radio instead of Video Games, physical, true to life Sports; and Fitness.
The real 1980’s, and the real early 1990’s was about people and society as a whole being more so morally decent, people being more sensical than at any time during the late 1990’s and the entirety (to date) of the 21st Century; possessing a Desktop Computer, or a Laptop Computer was more of a novelty than a widespread necessity; unless a business had their own, internal Computer Network; Businesses had to get by, by the way of filling Documents and Paperwork placed in Folders away in Filing Cabinets; researching, and retrieving information was done by the way of having access to Books that are sources of particular information, whether you borrowed them from a Library, or were able to own your own copies of these Books; interest was cultivated in Amateur/Ham Radio, listening to, and working for local AM/Mediumwave and FM Radio Stations, watching, and working for local Television Stations; and later, watching, and working for Cable Television Channels and local and regional Cable Television Providers; and traffic traffic in Shopping Malls, Stores such as Sears, Montgomery-Ward, J.C Penney; and also, Five & Dime Stores was also cultivated.

An Article From A Commercial Broadcast Radio Trade Magazine About A Survey Revealing Surprising Results About Young, Radical People And Their Patronage Of Commercial Broadcast AM And FM Radio Stations.
All I can say is thank goodness Commercial Broadcast Radio might have a promising future, and Audio Streaming and Podcasts may not supplant Commercial Broadcast Radio after all.
Let’s hope that Commercial Broadcast Shortwave Radio has just as promising of a future, and that the hobby of Amateur/Ham Radio also just as promising of a future.
All in all, let’s hope that Commercial Broadcast AM/Mediumwave, FM, and Shortwave Radio; and the hobby of Amateur/Ham Radio are around for millennia to come.
