Contrary to what this article says as far as WXYZ-TV is concerned, it was Richard O’Leary; head of ABC’s owned and operated Television Stations, and not Jay Watson, that led to WXYZ-TV adopting the Action News format for it’s Newscasts; and ABC’s other owned and operated Television Stations in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and in San Francisco to adopt the Eyewitness News format for their Newscasts.
