A 1947 Thomas Conventional On The Dodge Chassis & Cowl, And A 1983 Thomas Conventional On The Ford B-Series Chassis & Cowl That Were Owned By A School Bus Enthusiast And Collector Not Unlike Yours Truly, The Owner Of This Very Blog; Before He Ridded Himself Of Both Of These School Buses In 2000.
The 1983 Thomas Conventional On The Ford B-Series Chassis & Cowl is equipped with the Four-Light System; as opposed to the Eight-Light System that first appeared a decade earlier, in the 1970’s; and was beginning to become commonplace on School Buses at the time this Thomas Conventional body was manufactured during the years circa 1982-1983.
The Ford B-Series Chassis & Cowl is powered by the 370 or 429 Cubic Inch V8 Engines (both of which are members of the 385 Engine Family), and the Allison AT-545 Automatic Transmission; and is equipped with the type of Wheels that I personally prefer on Class 6-8 vehicles, the Multi-Spoke, Dayton-Style Wheels.
