KPNX-TV (nee KTAR-TV) is celebrating 70 years in existence, and on the air (around the time of writing this post).

KTAR-TV/KPNX-TV, and the KTAR Radio Stations were never co-owned and operated with the WTAR Stations in Norfolk, Virginia. Since 1981, WTAR-TV has been WTKR-TV.

The Television Station was sold to Combined Communications in 1979, at the same time the KTAR Radio Stations were traded for the KSD Radio Stations in St. Louis, Missouri. At this time, the Television Station had changed its call letters to KPNX-TV.
