Class A Motorhome On The General Motors P-Chassis Located In Racine, Ohio

A Damon (now a part Thor Motorcoach) Class A Motorhome located in the Town of Racine, Ohio (a Town located on the Ohio River, and on the Ohio-West Virginia border) on the General Motors P-Chassis.

In 1998, General Motors had sold the intellectual and design rights to the P-Chassis to Mr. Andrew Taitz, the founder of Workhorse Custom Chassis. Mr. Taitz had also purchased the Step Van Body Division of Grumman in the process of founding Workhorse. The transition of production of the P-Chassis from General Motors to Workhorse was complete by late 1999.

General Motors had also discontinued the Medium-Duty P-12 Chassis (based on the Class 5 GMT530 Medium-Duty Truck, and powered by the Tall-Block, Medium-Duty, and Vortec version of the 454 cubic inch Big Block V8 Engine and the Allison AT-542 Automatic Transmission) shortly after the sale of the intellectual and design rights to the P-Chassis.

Workhorse, in turn; would transfigure the P-12 Chassis into the W-20, W-22, W-24, and W-26 Chassis, based on the GMT560 Medium-Duty Trucks; and powered by the 8.1 liter Big Block V8 Engine, and the Allison 1000, and 2400 Series Automatic Transmissions.
