I Am Saddened By The Recent Death (As Of The Time Of Writing This Post) Of ABC News, And Westinghouse Broadcasting/Group W Producer Bill Geddie

I am saddened by the recent death (as of the time of writing this post) of ABC News, and Westinghouse Broadcasting/Group W Producer Bill Geddie.

At one time, Bill Geddie had worked at WKYC-TV in Cleveland (formerly KYW-TV before the Federal Government-mandated reversal swap with Westinghouse Broadcasting between the Cleveland and Philadelphia stations in 1965, and WNBK-TV prior to the swap with Westinghouse Broadcasting in 1956) when it was owned and operated by NBC. In 1990, NBC would sell WKYC-TV to Multimedia, Inc. (not to be confused with Metromedia).

Multimedia, Inc. was created as a result of a merger that had occurred in 1967 of the News-Piedmont Company, the Asheville Citizen-Times, and the Southeastern Broadcasting Company. The three former companies, and the merged latter company were each based in Greenville, South Carolina (not to be confused with a municipality in North Carolina of the same name, where the International Broadcasting Bureau and the Voice of America had jointly built a Shortwave Transmitter Site to replace those on the Eastern portion of the United States that they had inherited from CBS, NBC, General Electric, and Westinghouse).

In 1997, Bill Geddie and Barbara Walters had jointly created ABC’s midday Talk Show “The View”.

For further refrence regarding Barbara Walters, please see this earlier post: The Term ‘Deeply Saddened’ Is An Understatement With Regards To How I Feel About The Recent Passing Of NBC And ABC News Journalist Barbara Walters.
