The legacies of ABC Executives Richard O’ Leary and John Severino include ABC’s owned and operated Television Stations producing their Newscasts under Eyewitness News and Action News formats, each of the five Television Station’s using Lalo Schifrin’s The Tar Sequence” (originally from the 1967 Paul Newman and Dennis Hopper Movie titled “Cool Hand Luke”) as the music for their Newscasts; and locally produced Morning Talk Shows that would later evolve into Oprah Winfrey’s Talk Show (A.M Chicago), and the Talk Show now hosted by husband and wife Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos (A.M New York).

Kelly Ripa and Mark Conseulos are literally taking a page from WXYZ-TV’s Morning Talk Show Kelley & Company hosted by husband and wife John Kelley and Marilyn Turner, and KGO-TV’s Morning Talk Show A.M San Fransicso hosted by husband and wife Fred Lacosse and Terry Lowry.

Even though Barbara Walters was resented by most of her male colleagues at the time she started at ABC, Harry Reasoner was especially hostile towards Barbara Walters when the two had worked together at ABC.
