The Electric Fan manufacturer Vornado, a company that was founded in 1945 as the O.A. Sutton Corporation after founder Ottis A. Sutton had spent two and a half decades (the 1920’s, 1930’s, and the 1940’s) developing and perfecting Airplane Propeller designs, and eventually came to the conclusion that his Airplane Propeller designs could also be applied to Electric Fan designs.

At the end of WWII, Ottis A. Sutton began to market his Fans under the “Vornadofan” brand name.

For decades, Vornado Electric Fans were designed by Industrial Designer Richard Ten Eyck.

The O.A Sutton Company would later expand into Room Air Conditioners, and would produce their Air Conditioners under the ‘Vornado’ brand name. An example that has been manufactured by the O.A Sutton Company can be seen in the video below:

The O.A Sutton Company into the Real Estate Holding business beginning in 1959, with the purchase of the Two Guys Discount Department Store chain; and later spun off the Real Estate Holding Division as the Vornado Realty Trust (Stock Ticker Symbol: VRO)

In 1989, Businessman Michael Coup would rejuvenate the ‘Vornadofan’ brand name under a new company that Mr. Could be incept called Vornado Air Circulation Systems Inc.

Michael Coup would also work with the designer of the original Vornado Fan, Richard Ten Eyck; to concoct new Fan designs.
