I Am Saddened By The Recent Death (As Of The Time Of Writing This Post) Of Religious Minister, Religious Broadcaster, And One-Time Presidential Candidate During The 1988 Republican Presidential Primary, Pat Robertson

I am saddened by the recent death (as of the time of writing this post), of Religious Minister, Religious Broadcaster, and one-time Presidential Candidate during the 1988 Republican Presidential Primary, Marion Gordon “Pat” Robertson.

Ironically Pat Robertson, a Republican, and one who is notable for successfully attempting to mix Politics and Religion; was born to a Father, Absalom Willis Robertson (1887-1971), who was a Southern Democrat, had served as a United States Senator from Virginia from 1946-1966, and was a friend and an ally of fellow Politician Harry F. Byrd.

No one knows if Pat Robertson ever knew the separation of Church and State within the Constitution of the United States.

Pat Robertson had purchased WTOV-TV in the Hampton Roads area in Virginia in 1961; when the facilities were in a state of disrepair, refurbished and rehabilitated the Station’s facilities, changed the call letters to WYAH-TV, and converted this Television Station into one that broadcasts Religious Programming.

In the late 1950’s, WTOV-TV was merged into WVEC-TV, the Television offspring of WVEC-AM, and the sibling of WVEC-FM (later WWDE-FM).

Out of WYAH-TV grew the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), notable for creating, producing, and syndicating the Religious Talk Show titled “The 700 Club”.

It shall also be noted that Pat Robertson had served in the United States Marine Corps from 1948-1952.

Pat Robertson had unsuccessfully sought the Republication nomination for President of the United States during the 1988 United States Presidential Election, losing out to then Vice President under Ronald Reagan; George H.W Bush.

Fellow Politician and United States Senator Representative from California, Paul Norton “Pete” McCloskey Jr., once a Republican and now a Democrat, who had served with Pat Robertson at Camp Pendleton while they had both served in the United States Marine Corps, had wrote a public letter challenging Pat Robertson’s record in the Service. Pat Robertson would file a libel suit against Pete McCloskey Jr., only for Robertson to drop the suit against McCloskey, so that Robertson can devote “his full time and energies toward the successful attainment of the Republican nomination for the president of the United States”.

It was while dining in a Philadelphia-area Restaurant with Author and WWII veteran Cornelius Vanderbreggen (1915-2015) when Pat Robertson had decided to leave the Military and Corporate worlds behind, and enter the world of Ministry.

On June 8, 2023, Pat Robertson had passed on and gone to be with God in our Spiritual Home.

A year earlier in 2022, Pat Robertson’s wife Adele “DeDe” Robertson had passed away.
