As has been the case since 1961, and up until 2018; ABC Sports had covered this year’s Indianapolis 500, instigated by Roone Arledge on his quest for ABC Sports to televise nearly every single known and then unknown Sporting Event.
The Sports Director of ABC Owned and Operated Television Station WXYZ-TV, Dave Diles; had even worked for Roone Arledge and ABC Sports for their coverage of the Indianapolis 500, and several of the Olympic Games that ABC had the rights to.
Yes, in other words; Dave Diles was seen on the entire ABC Television Network, both Owned and Operated Stations and Affiliates; during their coverage of the Indianapolis 500 and several Olympic Games.
