Words alone can’t describe just how happy I am that Toyota has resurrected the Supra thanks to Toyoda family member and current Toyota Motor Corporation CEO Akio Toyoda.

Although, this latest generation of the Supra is just a reskinning of the current generation BMW Z4; and is powered by the BMW B58 Turbocharged inline-6, and not at all by any descendant of the M, G, and JZ engines; and nor is the platform the spiritual successor to the Toyota A platform that has underpinned earlier Supras, Celicas up until the Japanese-style Pony Car had switched to the Corona’s front-wheel-drive architecture beginning with the A60 generation; as well as the Toyota Soarer/Lexus SC, and Toyota Mark II/Chaser/Cresta/Cressida.
