Ford’s Next-Generation Escape

In keeping with the tradition of the One Ford Plan, the next-generation Escape/Kuga will be as European as it has always been ever since the introduction of the outgoing C520 generation in 2012.

This is good news for the owner of this very blog, since European vehicles and the only American vehicles that are the large, body-on-frame type are very emotionally important to me; and all Ford products having been European in nature since 2012 has been a real treat for me.

For the first time since the production of the paltry Mazda GF platform Ford Escape from 2005-2011, Ford will once again build a Hybrid version of the Escape; rather than sell the C-Max in the North American market as a Hybrid-only model as an effort to more effectively compete with Toyota’s Prius.

The name of the Lincoln version of this generation of Escape/Kuga will be changed from MKC, and the ridiculous “MK” name prefix that Lincoln had dumbly utilized for a little over a decade (as of the time of writing this post) to Corsair-a name that Ford has previously used on an Edsel-branded product, a Ford Europe product; and on a rebadged Nissan product sold by Ford Australia.
