An AMC Eagle (a Hornet/Concorde fitted with all of the running gear of the CJ-5 sans the Transfer Case, which had always been unique to the Eagle) located in Moses Lake, Washington.
It is highly likely that this AMC Eagle is fitted with the 258 cubic inch inline-6 (which would later evolve into the 4.0 liter inline-6 that would be downsized and converted to Electronic Fuel Injection by Renault during their tenure of owning AMC, originally utilizing the RENIX Onboard Diagnostic System; and would continue to be produced by Chrysler after their purchase of AMC and Jeep well into 2006-when the last TJ was built); and not the 2.5 liter 4-cylinder (which was the 258 inline-6 with 2 cylinders removed to create a 4-cylinder engine, and was also produced by Chrysler well into 2002, when Chrysler would begin to use their own EDZ 4-cylinder engine in 4-cylinder powered Jeeps until the discontinuation of the TJ in 2006 and the KJ and 2007).
The fitting of the CJ-5 drivetrain (including the front track of the CJ-5 being wider than that of the original 2-wheel-drive Hornet/Concorde) and the same size wheels and tires as that of the CJ-5 necessitated AMC’s styling department to restyle the front fenders to blend in with the wider front track and the larger-size wheels and tires.
