A 1993 model year GM B-Platform Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham that had been modified by the Secret Service into a Limousine and fitted with paint resistant to biochemical threats, armored plating resistant to bullets from weapons; and bulletproof glass; to serve as Bill Clinton’s Limousine as part of his motorcade during both of his terms in office as President of the United States.
Because the standard 350 Cubic Inch Small Block V8 that powers OEM/stock Fleetwood Broughams would be underpowered for this car modified into a limousine and fitted with all of the necessary armament to protect the President, the First Lady; and anyone else who may be transported in the car with the President; the Secret Service had turned to shoehorning a 454 Cubic Inch Big Block V8, a TH-400/4L80-E Automatic Transmission (in lieu of the stock and lighter-duty THR-700/4L60-E Automatic Transmission) and heavier front springs all donated from a GMT400 3-quarter-ton Pickup Truck.
A similar thing had been done to the conversion of a Panther platform Lincoln Town Car into the Limousine that had served as the motorcade of Bill Clinton’s predecessor-George H.W Bush; were because of the 302 and 351 Cubic Inch Windsor V8s that normally power OEM/stock Town Cars would be underpowered for this particular car that had been converted into a limousine and fitted with all of the necessary armament; the Ford Motor Company had shoehorned a 385 architecture 460 Cubic Inch V8, a C6 Automatic Transmission (in lieu of the stock, lighter-duty AOD and AOD-E Automatic Transmissions); and heavier front springs all donated from a contemporary Ford F-250 Pickup Truck.
