An article about the Japanese connection to the Navoi Theater in Tashkent, Uzbekistan; being that Japanese Prisoners Of War who were captured in the Far Eastern section of Russia were shipped off to the Soviet Central Asian nation of Uzbekistan to assist in the construction of the Navoi Theater during the years 1942-1947.
The theater had opened to the public in November, 1947; and the opening of this theater had coincided with what would be the 506th birthday of Alisher Navoi (1441-1501), if anyone had lived that long, or in other words; to be that old.
Alisher Navoi (also known as Nizām-al-Din ʿAlisher Herawī) was a Turkic/Persian/Afghan poet, writer, politician, linguist, mystic; and painter.
