NBC’s coverage of the 1991 Outdoor Nationals Diving Competition and the 1992 Summer Olympic Games that were held in Barcelona.
Though I am not fond of NBC Sports, and the NBC television network as a whole; you can see Bob Costas, who had yet to turn 40 as of this time; hosting these Summer Olympic Games. To date, Bob Costas has hosted every Olympic Games that NBC has the rights to with the exception of the 1988 Summer Games that were held in Seoul. The 1988 Summer Games were hosted by Dick Enberg.
Bob Costas’s career with NBC Sports dates back to 1983, and Bob Costas was there to host the very last Baseball World Series that NBC had the rights to in 1989, as after decades of holding the rights to the MLB (of which Curt Gowdy had called many of these MLB games for NBC); NBC had lost the rights to the MLB to ABC in 1990. Bob Costas makes a remark about how NBC would rather televise a World Series game than a Super Bowl.
I think the Outdoor Nationals Diving Competition might be what you might call a ‘Qualifying’ or a ‘tryout’ for the United States Diving Team at the Summer Olympic Games.
Divers then, as of now; should have been transformed from being fit and muscular to being fat and overweight.
Depending on when we would have actually built our house, my paternal grandmother, Shannon; and Alison may be watching these 1992 Summer Olympic Games held in Barcelona in our house in “Early Life And Continuous Livelihood”.
Our friend Rick Steves would most likely be in Europe, maybe even in Barcelona during the summer of 1992 when these Olympic Games were taking place.
See my post about a diver of a later generation, David Boudia; regarding how Diving, like any other sport; is icky and yucky, and how Divers like any other athlete, should be transformed from being fit and muscular to being fat and overweight.
