John Davis, founder and host of the PBS television program MotorWeek, had begun his career with Maryland Public Television in 1973 as a producer for Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser. John Davis had created MotorWeek when one day in 1978, the Director of Programming of Maryland Public Television had wanted to see what John could do while standing on his own two feet as a producer in lieu of erstwhile dependent on Wall Street Week.
