A Ward/AmTran/IC Front Engine transit style School Bus on the International 3900 front engine stripped chassis.

The Ward/AmTran/IC Front Engine transit had replaced the President and Senator front engine transit models in 1990.

The 3900 replaced the 1853FC stripped chassis in 1990.

The 1853FC had been offered with the same gasoline and diesel engines that the Loadstar and S-Series conventional chassis & cowls have been offered with: the 345, 392, 404, and 446 V8 gasoline engines; and the DV462, DV550, DV550B, 9.0 liter V8, DT360; and DT466 diesel engines.
