In 1995, during the production run of the 80-Series Land Cruiser; Toyota had introduced a highly luxurious version of the 80-Series under their Lexus brand called the Lexus LX as a result of threatening US trade sanctions on Japanese luxury cars.
The Lexus LX, wherever sold; has always carried a huge price premium over a comparably equipped Land Cruiser, and has always been equipped more extravagantly than a fully loaded Land Cruiser.
The Lexus LX, however; has never received a so-called Lexus treatment of having a quiet interior and a smooth ride as one would expect any Lexus model to have.
Before the introduction of the Lexus brand worldwide, the Lexus LS had been sold as the Toyota Land Cruiser Cygnus in Japan, as an ultra-luxurious trim level of the Land Cruiser in the Japanese Domestic Market.
