NASCAR should continue to be engulfed and embossed in the culture that has made it what it is since antiquity (well, actually; since R.J Reynolds began sponsoring what was then called the Winston Cup and is now called the Sprint Cup beginning in 1971).
NASCAR should continue to be run by car enthusiasts for car enthusiasts, rather than trying to be as appealing as mainstream sports (icky, yucky Basketball, Football, Baseball; and Hockey), not employing drivers and pit crew members who had originally aspired to become ball-playing athletes but wound up becoming a stock car driver or a pit crew member instead, and don’t really want to be working there; but are because they have to. The pit crew members should continue to be full-time mechanics acting as part-time pit crews.
It also should continue to not matter if a potbellied, unathletic person serves as a driver or a member of the pit crew.
Although I am not fond of drugs and alcohol, as a traditionalist NASCAR fan-the sponsors should continue to be usually drug, alcohol; and tobacco companies, petroleum companies such as Mobil, Marathon, Quaker State, Pennzoil, and Valvoline; and auto part chains such as Checkers and Autoworks, sometimes companies like Kodak, Coca-Cola, and Hawaiian Punch (for many years a non-drug subsidiary of R.J Reynolds); and not odd things like promoting up and coming movies, cartoon characters, and such.
The fan base of NASCAR should continue to be dominated by car enthusiasts from the north and west, and Rednecks and Southern Belles from the Southeastern part of the country.
A NASCAR race that isn’t televised on CBS just doesn’t seem right. Watching a CBS-televised race just seemed to give you an anodyne feeling. No other television network or cable channel has ever done as good of a job of televising a NASCAR race as CBS-past, present; and future.
Not that I ever cared, and nor will I ever care about mainstream sports; but the production of all sporting events televised by CBS during the era of Neal Pilson at the helm resulted in a product that seemed to give you an overall anodyne feeling.
NASCAR has already changed for the worse by the time of this aberrant so-called “Pit Crew Challenge”, which has it’s roots in a more reasonable two-tire change exhibition event from 1967-1984, later superseded by the four-tire change exhibition event held at Rockingham Speedway from 1985-2003. The event was held at Rockingham Speedway earlier when it was the two-tire change exhibition event.
NASCAR has also changed for the worse by the time these videos were taken:
I hope to assist Mike Brewer, host of the television programs Wheeler Dealers, “Driven”, Deals On Wheels, Pulling Power, Wrecks To Riches, a television show called Auto Trader; and a non-automotive television show called Frontline Battle Machines.
I would like to assist Mike Brewer in finding a Caprice/Roadmaster wagon, a diesel Suburban, a diesel K5 Blazer or 2-door Tahoe, a diesel Full-Size van, a Full-Size Ford Bronco, a Dodge Ramcharger/Plymouth TrailDuster; and an AMC Eagle to export back to Britain.
Then Mike would expect his mechanic Edd China to do the work refurbishing these vehicles once they’ve arrived in Britain and at Mike Brewer & Edd China’s workshop.

Below is the promotional video for the better-known Chevrolet version of the car called the Malibu.
The reason as to why the matriarch and patriarch of this other family that both of Arthur’s sisters are a part of in this movie buy the G-platform Buick Century station wagon is because they don’t have any desire to own a vehicle as big as anything built on the GM B-platform or the Ford Panther platform, they want to have all the luxury features that are traditionally available on a Buick or an Oldsmobile and were not available on a Chevrolet or a Pontiac; and futuristically speaking, the G-platform Buick Century station wagon is an ascendant to the Chevrolet Celebrity,
Chevrolet Lumina, Pontiac Aztek, Buick Rendezvous; and the Chevrolet Lumina APV/Venture/Uplander, Pontiac Trans Sport; and the Oldsmobile Silhouette/Buick Terazza.
The matriarch and patriarch of this family had replaced a 1978 G-platform Pontiac LeMans station wagon with this 1981 Buick Century station wagon. The lease was just about to run out by the time they had put their order in for their 1981 Buick Century wagon. The husband & wife/parents of this household wanted to upgrade to a Buick from the lower-end Pontiac (or Chevrolet).
Scanned pages of the brochure for the slightly older Pontiac version of the car:
As I will explain to Marc Brown should Shannon ever introduce me to him, the reasoning behind this family having midsize GM G-platform station wagons is because it mirrors an awful phase in my parents’ lives-when they had minivans, 2 Buick Rendezvous, had thought about buying a Pontiac Aztek; and when they had an affinity for the type of vehicle such as a minivan, Pontiac Aztek, and Buick Rendezvous. This family upgrading from the Pontiac to the Buick version of the same car is parallel to when my parents had thought upgrading from a Dodge Caravan/Plymouth Voyager to a Chrysler Town & Country and from a Chevrolet Venture/Pontiac Trans Sport to an Oldsmobile Silhouette/Buick Terraza. And then my parents came into realization that having all the luxury bells & whistles was trivial and unnecessary. This other family chauffeurs relatives around in their G-platform Buick Century wagon just like how my parents did with their minivans. This other family also wastes time driving around looking at houses and driving around a fictional island based on Harsens Island, Michigan just like how my parents did with their minivans.
I will also explain to Marc Brown that the funeral part in this movie is actually based on the time when my parents had forced me to attend the funeral of one of the relatives that I don’t like-my mother’s father. At this time, I also wanted to tell the rest of my mother’s familythat I just absolutely hate that I actually hate them, especially during this funeral that my parents had forced me to go to. Even at this time, I would have rather been in a Caprice wagon than in that awful Buick Rendezvous that my parents owned at that time; I would have much rather been around my paternal grandmother, Marie “Mimi, Mary Ann, Shannon; and all of her siblings than those relatives that I just absolutely don’t like at that moment in time. Last, I would have much rather been with my paternal grandmother in a large house on several acres of property during that period of frigid weather watching CBS on WJBK-TV than be with these relatives that I just absolutely hate, live in the awful house that my family has lived in since 1990, and WJBK-TV being a FOX affiliate; all during the frigid weather at this moment in time. And on a different subject, hoping that a diesel Suburban or G-Van would start as of this time.
Tony Stewart casted in this movie as the hearse driver, and the hearse being made out of a Cadillac Fleetwood brougham just like the one that he has as part of his vehicle collection; will add humor to the funeral part of this movie.
On a personal note, though obfuscated in this movie; Tony Stewart’s and my own love for vehicles on the GM B-platform (such as Tony Stewart’s hearse and Arthur’s parents Pontiac Catalina wagon and Buick Electra Estate wagon) triumph in importance over this family having lost their loved one. The reason as to why Tony Stewart’s and my interest in vehicles on the GM B-platform triumphing in importance over this family having lost their loved one is obfuscated is so that it doesn’t seem so egoistic.
This family would get together with their relatives at a saloon/banquet center called The Red Potato to mourn the death of their relative that had passed away. Several of this family’s relatives become wasted and passed out by the way of having consumed way too many alcoholic beverages while at this saloon/banquet center. This family’s relatives from Virginia, North Carolina; and South Carolina also travel to the area to attend this person’s funeral and to get together with the remainder of the relatives at this saloon/banquet center.
The relative of this family that passes away during the funeral part in this movie was born in 1900 and passes away at the age of 81 in 1981.
Relatives of this family based on my mother’s eldest brother and his wife, how poorly they take care of vehicles, and how they are not the appropriate type of people to own a Suburban or a Full-Size van; would own a 1979-1980 Ford Club Wagon (OEM/stock passenger van version of the Econoline) with the 335 architecture 400 cubic inch V8 engine. Relatives of this family based on my mother’s younger brother and how poorly he takes care of vehicles would own a 1977-1979 Ford Thunderbird with the 335 architecture 400 cubic inch V8 engine.
The only connection that Arthur and his parents have to this situation is that they are driving by The Red Potato saloon/banquet center, briefly spot all of those vehicles in the parking lot as they are passing by while they’re on their way to someplace else.
Irrelevant, but being with my paternal grandmother in that large house at that time would actually be like when my paternal grandmother had come over to our house to babysit me in December, 1993 when the weather in the Detroit area was -20 outside, times 10.
All of you following this blog already know that with the paradigms of Arthur and his family changed in this movie, such as Arthur being an only child who is severely autistic, Arthur’s mother is a School Bus driver, Arthur’s father owns his own trucking company, Arthur’s parents also own a NASCAR Winston Cup racing team; and Arthur and his parents have a vehicle collection as vast as Tony Stewart’s and Jay Leno’s. And Arthur and his parents are a reflection of when my parents had Caprice station wagons, Suburbans, Full-Size vans, Volkswagens/Audis; and when my father also had pickup trucks.
The Dasher and the Quantum were sold as Passats in the rest of the world over, just like how the Rabbit was sold as a Golf the rest of the world over.
Like how the name ‘Golf’ wasn’t used in the North American market until the sale of the A2 in this market, the name ‘Passat’ wasn’t used until the sale of the B3 in this market.
A bodystyle of the B2 Passat/Quantum that had never been sold in the North American market was the 5-door hatchback.
The 3-door hatchback version of the B2 Passat/Quantum was sold in the North American market in very limited numbers and during a span of only a couple years. From 1981-1983.
Production of the B2 had continued for a few more decades in the South American and Chinese markets as the Santana until a couple years ago in 2013.
The Volkswagen C platform that had been used by Audi has always been a lengthened version of the B platform. Both Volkswagen’s B & C platforms shared the longitudal front-wheel-drive layout, provisions for the Iltis-derived all-wheel-drive system marketed as Syncro and Quattro, many driveline components; and many interior components-such as seats, seat tracks that allowed the seats to slide forwards and backwards; and vehicle electronics. The only major difference between the two platforms were the length of the floorpan.

A 1st or 3rd generation Golf-based Cabriolet or a 1st generation Golf/Rabbit pickup truck will also serve my emotional needs of ever having a Volkswagen/Audi again.
The production of the Sirocco and the Corrado that had succeeded it, the old air-cooled Beetle convertible, the Karmann Ghia; and both the 1st and 3rd-generation Golf-based Cabriolets were all contracted out by Volkswagen to Karmann of Osnabruck, Germany.
Like with the K5 Blazer/2-door Tahoe, Dodge Ramcharger/Plymouth TrailDuster, Corrado, GTI with the VR6; or the Audi TT; the same rules will apply towards the 1st or 3rd generation Golf-based Cabriolet or the 1st generation Golf/Rabbit pickup truck:
The other child that my parents had, as well as her husband will never be allowed to drive the heavier-duty pickup. The only other person that will ever drive this truck besides my parents is myself, yours truly. This includes me getting angry to no end if my mother generously offers my sister and her husband to drive the Golf-based Cabriolet or a 1st generation Golf/Rabbit pickup truck.
The relatives that we don’t like and don’t associate with-my mother’s family will never be allowed in the Golf-based Cabriolet or a 1st generation Golf/Rabbit pickup truck. This also includes me not only having a coronary if my mother had generously offered for both her eldest brother’s daughter and his niece, and her youngest brother’s son to drive the Golf-based Cabriolet or a 1st generation Golf/Rabbit pickup truck.
Darlene, her husband and sons; and Carletta and her daughter will also never be allowed in this truck, and Moe nor Carletta’s older daughter would be allowed in the Golf-based Cabriolet or the 1st generation Golf/Rabbit pickup truck.
Only in the 1st or 3rd generation Golf-based Cabriolet would we be able to transport Mary Agnes “Mag”, Shannon, Alison, Margaret, Ralph, Ann; and Paul.
We obviously couldn’t transport anyone in the 1st generation Golf/Rabbit pickup truck.

A Thomas conventional style School Bus on the Freightliner FS-65 chassis & cowl.
I have never been fond of the Freightliner chassis & cowl, but this post about this particular bus is about the fact that since after Daimler/Freightliner had purchased Ford’s Medium & Heavy-Duty truck business sector, that the Freightliner FS-65 was designed and intended to succeed the Ford B-Series chassis & cowl as the B-Series’ official replacement.

This body/chassis combination is a rarity at any time during the 1990’s since International Harvester/Navistar had purchased Ward/AmTran outright as their in-house School Bus body manufacturer in 1991. Therefore, limiting Ward/AmTran to using strictly IH/Navistar chassis.
